Evaluation Services

employU offers Vocational and Psychological Evaluation services available in virtual and in-person formats. These evaluation services work together to provide a clearer, more detailed picture of the best career path for each client.

Vocational Evaluations

Vocational Evaluation services are designed to help individuals explore work interests, determine aptitudes and skills, and formulate career plans. A Vocational Evaluation is an individualized, timely, and systematic process by which a person seeking employment learns to identify and develop employment goals. A Vocational Evaluation utilizes work, either real or simulated, as the focal point for the assessment. In addition, the assessment incorporates medical, psychological, social, cultural, and economic information to assist individuals in developing their vocational pursuits.

employU’s Vocational Evaluators are trained professionals with a Masters or PHD in their profession. They are personable and dedicated to guiding you through the process in a relaxed environment. Results are solidly backed by the customer’s demonstrated performance. employU’s Evaluators provide clear and concise reports with upfront occupational recommendations. Once a referral is received, we will contact the customer within 24 hours to provide a completed report within 10 working days of the meeting.

Psychological Evaluations

Psychological Evaluations can provide insight that allows for a more accurate and comprehensive Vocational Evaluation. Administered by a State of Florida Licensed Psychologist, this evaluation is a useful tool in assessing the individual’s cognitive and learning abilities, intellectual functioning, academic achievement, educational aptitude, and perceptual and mental or emotional status. These areas of assessment provide information about rehabilitation needs or for the development of the employment plan.

Through a structured interview process and using standardized clinical assessment tools including the Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale (WAIS) and Woodcock-Johnson Tests of Achievement, psychological evaluators can identify strengths and weaknesses in the areas of cognitive, behavioral, and social/emotional/developmental functioning to help guide recommendations for appropriate academic goals and/or work settings. Additionally, evaluations identify any emotional or mental health issues which may pose a barrier to employment.

Types of Vocational Evaluations

Comprehensive Vocational Evaluation

During Comprehensive Vocational Evaluations, an individual is assessed through a series of achievement, aptitude, tolerance, dexterity and interests tests that typically take place within one day of testing. Some of the tools used include the Beta IV, Strong Interest Survey, Career Decision Making System, PICS and TABE. All testing is designed to determine options that lead to an accurate job goal.

Community Based Evaluation

A Community Based Evaluation includes one day of testing as is done with the Comprehensive Vocational Evaluation, and an additional day out in the field with the evaluator. employU’s Vocational Evaluator will accompany the participant to businesses that have jobs which match the interest derived from vocational interest testing and stated interests of the client. Together they will observe workers who are currently performing a job in that career. They discuss the job duties with the employee, a typical schedule, and the positives and negatives of the position. This process typically solidifies or eliminates vocational interests shown through the testing.

Worksite Assessment

During Work Site Assessments individuals are evaluated in an employment setting using actual work to determine their assets and limitations. Typically, the process takes place within a two-day period and focuses on the participant’s work behaviors, physical tolerance, social skills, ability to follow direction and ability to remain on task. Information is also gathered through personal reports, work history, and observational data. At the end of the assessment period, a formal report is written with the testing results and a recommended plan that would give the participant the tools and preparation to start or continue a career.
